Join us for the last walking tour of the year, specially tailored for GWN members.

Southwark is a dark and foreboding area south of the City of London as portrayed by Sarah Waters in her famous gothic novel, ‘Fingersmith’. It is filled with the stories of thieves and villains, asylums and taverns as well as nurses and baby farmers who all feature in this twisting tale. There are many parallels with Dickens and we will draw comparisons between the two as we tell their stories using the best and most fascinating parts of South London as backdrop. We will see where Dickens spent a lot of his childhood, see the only remaining coaching inn in London, visit the remnants of an old debtors prison and the poignant graveyard that was used for prostitutes and outcasts.

Please book in advance by emailing Emma. Cost: £12 pp.
